Fine Arts Mission Statement
The mission of the Phoenix CSD Arts department is to provide every student with positive experiences and opportunities that promote lifelong appreciation in the arts. Student immersion in the creative process develops real world skills in problem solving, communication, and collaboration through artistic literacy.
Visual Arts Vision Statement
The vision of the Phoenix CSD Visual Arts department is to have our students develop aesthetic awareness, imagination, perception, appreciation, and cultural understanding. Teachers will foster creative abilities with self-expression, confidence, and discipline. Students will practice responsibility in proper safety procedures and work habits through developing individual technical skills and craftsmanship.
CURRICULUM Resources
Each level addresses the four New York State Visual Art Standards of Creating, Presenting, Responding, and Connecting in developmentally appropriate ways.
To ensure consistency, our district refers to a standard set of vocabulary across all grade levels which are used to help students think about, talk about, and develop artwork.
