So, have you ever been frustrated with yourself because for some reason, your homework doesn't get done in a short amount of time, but instead it takes you HOURS to complete it since you got distracted or you don't feel confident enough? Well, here are some ways to stop yourself from procrastinating and become a better student in school.
Exercise #1 - Stay away from any electronic devices
Unless you have to go on your computer to answer a question on Google Classroom or work on an assignment and project, stay away from any electronic devices, such as a console. Content on the Internet is very engrossing, and you can quickly find yourself falling into the void of enjoying whatever you are seeing or listening to. Soon, you'll find that a lot of time has passed when you check the clock while you think it was only for a little bit of time. So, unless you've got to do some homework on a computer or phone, don't use anything such as your 3DS, Nintendo Switch, XBox, Playstation, or your computer.
Exercise #2 - Motivate yourself
At times, we'll all feel like we're falling down and it's too late to change or there is no reason to do homework since you don't understand it, but that's not true! Despite the trouble that you may be having with a certain piece of homework, there are some ways to motivate yourself. For example, you can think about how to approach it until you hit on something that might help you complete it more quickly, instead of stressing out about how to do it and going about it in random ways. Also, talk to yourself, assure yourself that you are smart in your own right, and despite having trouble with this, YOU CAN DO IT! Don't give up until the very end!
Exercise #3 - Focus on the Task At Hand And Set Goals
While it may seem tough, you have to focus on the task, but how can you do it when it feels like there are more important things, such as chores, watching TV, or playing video games? Convince yourself to start working hard by setting some goals, or rewarding yourself when you finally complete your work? As time progresses, you may find it easier to focus on your homework or whatever else you have to do for the day, as now you know that you can do whatever you want to do after completing your work.
Exercise #4 - Time Management
Everyone, no matter who they are, always has something on their hands to work on and wants to put away some time for family, playing games, or resting. However, how are you ever going to balance everything out so that you can get what you need/want to complete for the day and still have time to take part in activities that you want to do for the day? Well, if you create a schedule for what you can do for the day, as well as work smart and not hard, then you can complete your homework - although remember to not rush, and make sure that you understand the content. By following your schedule, and not getting distracted by anything, you can manage your time well and get everything done for the day while still having time for family, playing, etc.
Exercise #5 - Ask Someone TO HELP YOU
Don't ever be scared to ask for help, and ask someone to go ahead and watch you as you work to make sure that you will not stray from the path and what you are trying to do! Share your problems with other people who are your role models and can make a positive influence on you and stop you from procrastinating. They can make you a better student who can stay focused on the job and stop your habit of procrastinating, but that isn't the only way to do this. Those who watch you as you work can keep an eye on you and encourage you to have good habits and feel the pressure of work and how to release it. Also, they can help build up your confidence if you lack it so now you can do it by yourself and be more certain about your abilities.
