At night, before you go to bed, you might think of whipping out your phone and just casually playing a game, searching up random things, using it for Instagram or any other social media websites, and etc.
Exercise #1 - Read a Book
Instead of reading stories on your phone using any apps such as Quotev, read a book that has caught your interest in your home or at the school library! There's plenty out there in the world to read about, and these books can teach you about a certain subject or a life lesson for later on in the future, such as by working together, you can do more than you could on your own. Besides, reading those stories on your phone hurt your eyes because of the light that is emitted from it that can cause them to hurt after quite some time, and books don't exactly hurt them.
Exercise #2 - Reflect On The Past
As you lay in bed, sometimes memories of the past come flooding back as you think about friends, previous schools, or what you've done that is wrong, and how you can make it right by making yourself a better person in general. Thinking about joyful memories that include family or friends can relieve your stress, as you wonder how they are doing and be thinking about what them so special to you - their positive character traits and quirks. Even if your mind turns to thinking about memories that you aren't so fond of, accept yourself for who you are and then whatever you feel about yourself, the stress that you feel that is connected to yourself, will fade away as you accept it, and that it doesn't define who you are. Just let go of that stress connected to your memories as well as your homework.
#3 Drawing
Before going to bed, working on a drawing that you're making can get you focused and expend some of your energy, as you are moving your hands to create something original, but you are molding it to make it look similar as possible to the way it was envisioned in the mind. As the piece of art is being worked on, finding unexpected things that get in the way of completing the drawing for fun can turn up, as it tests the skills you have. When it's done, you feel a sense of accomplishment, since after a few nights of hard work, the time and effort that has been put into this feels like it's been worth it.
Exercise #4 Going on a Walk/ Exploring Nature
Going outside to walk can calm your mind, as just watching the little things that surround the things that you know well can remind you that despite the world looking a bit bleak, there are still some positive things out there in life. Exploring a place, such as a forest can be an entirely new experience for you, as discovering animals or things out there in nature can be calming yet exciting at the same time, and it is a time for you to clear your mind before going to bed to rest. Additionally, breathing in the fresh air helps as well to calm you down, where you can clear your mind.
