Nursing Responsibilities

School Nurses are responsible for:

• Performing state mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, height and weight)

• Maintaining student health and immunization records 

• Administering and/or supervising the administration of doctor prescribed medications 

• Performing nursing procedures 

• Assessing student who become ill or injured while at school

• Responding to health emergencies

• Care coordination of students with serious  health problems

• Process and monitor medical 504 plans (service agreements)

• Process and monitor medical Homebound and medical Transportation requests
