Class of 2025
Last May, the district announced a change to the honors recognition system. You can find the original letter detailing this change here: Change to Laude Honor System.
Below you can find additional information regarding how this system will be implemented.
For the Class of 2025, the Laude Honor System will follow these guidelines:
Key Points to Note:
Honors will initially be based on students’ 7th-semester GPA and celebrated during the spring awards ceremonies. This GPA will also be used to identify students eligible to speak before a committee for the opportunity to deliver a speech at graduation. Further details about this process will be provided to eligible students in the spring.
Final designations will be determined after 8th-semester grades are finalized. Graduation regalia reflecting the final honors will be issued before the graduation ceremony.
***This means that a student’s honor level recognized at the spring awards ceremony could change based on their final 8th-semester grades.***
For example: if a student’s cumulative GPA after their seventh semester (in January) is 3.9, they will be recognized as a Summa Cum Laude recipient during the senior awards ceremony. However, if their GPA drops to 3.7 after the eighth semester (in May), they will receive the Magna Cum Laude cord and be honored at graduation as a Magna Cum Laude recipient.
Seniors must also be enrolled to earn six credits during their 8th semester to remain eligible for these honors.
