The below listed recipes are dishes that we complete in the Food Lab. Feel free to make them at home!
Ingredients:
Cake:
½ box yellow cake mix
½ can apple pie filling
2 eggs
Topping:
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Grease an 8” x 8” square cake pan lightly by spraying with cooking spray.
3. Measure 2 Tbsp sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon in a custard cup, stir to combine and set aside for later use.
4. Crack 2 eggs, one at a time into a custard cup. Add eggs one at a time to the cake batter in a large mixing bowl. Stir well using a wooden spoon.
5. In a small mixing bowl, chop apples into small pieces using the pastry blender. Remember to occasionally scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl with a rubber scrape to cut up all of the apples.
6. Add the chopped apples to the cake batter. Use a rubber scraper to get all of the apples and their juice out of the glass bowl.
7. Using a wooden spoon, stir the apples into the cake batter. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl.
8. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the cake batter.
9. Bake for 25-27 minutes. Set the KITCHEN timer (not Cooking Time)
Ingredients:
1 pkg. (10 oz) refrigerated biscuits
½ cup pizza sauce
½ tsp. Italian seasoning
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
Preparation:
1. Spray a glass pie plate with cooking spray. Place a custard cup face down in the center of the pie plate. Spray the custard cup with cooking spray.
2. Separate the biscuits. Quarter each biscuit (cut each biscuit into 4 pieces)
3. In a bowl, toss the biscuits, pizza sauce, and Italian seasoning until dough is coated.
4. Pour the dough in the pie plate around the custard cup.
5. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the dough mixture.
6. Microwave the dough on HIGH for 6-8 minutes. Cooking time will vary depending on microwave.
7. Using oven mitts, take the pie plate out of the microwave. The plate will be HOT!
PREP TIME 5 minutes
COOK TIME 7 minutes
Ingredients
6 slices Texas toast
4 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Slice each piece of bread into 3 slices.
Add the eggs, milk, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt to a shallow dish and whisk to combine.
Spritz the basket of your air fryer with oil spray.
Quickly dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture and then place in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure to leave space between each piece. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Cook at 380 degrees for 7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve hot with powdered sugar and maple syrup.
Ingredients:
4 Eggs
3 T. Water
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking spray
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
4 Flour tortillas
10 prepared tater tots
Directions:
Crack one egg into a custard cup. Remove any shells. Place the eggs into a small bowl.
Measure the water and place in the small mixing bowl.
Sprinkle salt and pepper in the small mixing bowl.
Whisk the eggs together until well beaten.
Mash the tater tots with a fork or break them apart with your fingers.
Warm the frying pan over medium heat. Using vegetable spray, lightly coat the frying pan.
Carefully add the eggs to the pan. Cook, mixing frequently with a rubber spatula, until you have scrambled eggs.
Once the eggs are cooked, add shredded cheese and mashed tater tots to the eggs and mix until the cheese is melted.
Place the tortillas on individual plates then evenly distribute the egg mixture in the center of each tortilla.
Ingredients:
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 eggs
1 cup flour
⅔ cup cocoa powder
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
Directions:
DAY 1
Grease a rectangle baking pan
In a medium bowl, use a wooden spoon to mix together the oil, sugar, and vanilla.
Beat eggs into the same medium bowl.
In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually stir the wet mixture into the dry mixture until blended.
Spread the batter evenly into the pan.
Cover with aluminum foil, and place in the refrigerator.
Day 2:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Bake for 30 minutes
Insert toothpick to make sure it comes out clean. Let cool and enjoy!
