Hello there, my name is Joseph and this is the first Manga review I’ve ever done. If you do plan on reading Toriko this review does contain spoilers. Let me say something about this, most importantly it’s my opinion and you can always disagree. I'm doing this to show how I felt about a certain Manga. Now to get started, the Manga I read this month was called Toriko and it was written by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro. Toriko is about a character whose name is Toriko. He is a gourmet hunter in the world of this story. Gourmet hunters hunt foods from all over the human world and the gourmet world. The story has Toriko as a famous gourmet hunter. He’s also part of the Four Kings of the human world. All great Gourmet hunters need a good chef and that’s when we meet the second main character of the story, Komatsu. Komatsu is a chef in a five-star hotel, which is good, but ratings can go up to ten stars in this world. We begin the story with Komatsu getting sent out by his boss to ask Toriko to capture an ingredient of a dish that is dangerous for normal people to hunt, and that is how they meet each other for the first time. Komatsu decides to go with Toriko on this adventure. He doesn’t know yet that this was the best decision he has ever made.

They go on so many more adventures meeting 2 of the four kings, named Coco, and Sunny the fourth king will show up later in the story. They also have to fight GT robots from the main villains of the story, Gourmet Corp, who plan to take all the food in the world for themselves. Toriko and Komatsu always improve themselves, like Toriko improves in fighting techniques and Komatsu in mastering ways to cook and prepare food. Many times Toriko gets hurt but Komatsu is there to cheer him on and help him with cooking delicious dishes for him to eat. They each believe in each other so they become partners, but one mission they go on is too dangerous, so the fourth member of the four kings is needed. Zebra the 4th king was in prison when he was needed, so they get him out and find a creature that looks like the GT robots. Later on in the story, a fight that requires all of the four kings to work together Toriko, Sunny, Coco, and Zebra almost die in this fight, but they come together in a combo attack in which they use the strength of their appetites to finish it off. After this battle, a few months passed by and a cooking tournament takes place to show off the top 100 chefs and their abilities. Komatsu makes it as the 88th best chef, but shortly after the tournament starts Gourmet Corp attacks and a mysterious new faction is also fighting in this food war.

Komatsu gets taken during the war because Toriko was defeated and almost killed. Toriko loses all his confidence after this, but he is cheered up by all the people who believe in him, so he goes to the gourmet world for a few years. He then frees Komatsu and they go back to the gourmet world to gather food for the people affected by the war. Then when they come back to the human world, they learn about foods that have the best flavor to exist, so they will venture to find these foods with the other members of the Four Kings. This is as far as the story goes that was available to me, but I think that the story is really good and you should definitely give it a try. Toriko had me reading every day, and I think it will have the same effect on you.
