Submitting Final Courseworks
All courseworks for assessment must be submitted through each coursework assessment’s Turnitin submission box by its due date and time.
WHERE THERE IS MORE THAN ONE COURSEWORK ASSESSMENT OR ELEMENT OF ASSESSMENT (SUCH AS A PROPOSAL) FOR A MODULE EACH PART WILL HAVE A SEPARATE SUBMISSION BOX.
THE CORRECT SUBMISSION BOX MUST BE USED FOR THE PART YOU ARE SUBMITTING. IF YOU SUBMIT INTO THE WRONG BOX YOUR WORK MAY NOT BE MARKED.
Each separate submission box can be found in the Assessment folder on your module in the section for that assessment.
Each coursework must be submitted as ONE document only.
Save your coursework submission with the following document title convention: Student number _Module Code_Assessment name
Go to the correct submission box for the coursework you are submitting and click on VIEW/COMPLETE to submit and upload your coursework.
Use the preview window to proof check the submission and ensure that the title is correct and click CONFIRM.
YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE PRESENTED ON SCREEN WITH A DIGITAL RECEIPT CONFIRMING A SUCCESSFUL SUBMISSION.
If you do not receive this on screen digital confirmation, submit again following the process set out above. If you do not then receive confirmation of submission, please contact IT Support immediately for assistance: techsupport@escapestudios.ac.uk
Please note that for group coursework submissions the requirements are the same as above, EXCEPT that groups must choose a member to submit, who submits one document for the group using the group name (ie Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, etc) in the title and the following naming convention: group name _module code_assessment name.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are executive summaries / abstracts included in the word count?
No. But please note that an executive summary / abstract must only be a clear, concise summary of the key points that you have covered in the main body of your coursework and will be marked on that basis. An executive summary should NOT contain new content.
Are the title page and table of contents included in the word count?
No.
Are appendices included in my word count?
No. You should ensure that key findings contained in any appendices are discussed in the main body of text. Appendices should be provided for reference only.
Are diagrams and tables included in my word count?
No. However, please note that any text or analysis beyond data and labels contained within any diagrams or tables will be considered as part of your word count.
Does my reference list at the end of my coursework count towards my word count?
No.
Do Harvard references in the main body of my coursework count towards my word count?
Yes. Your Harvard system references in the body of the coursework, such as (Choudhury, 2018, p. 34), for example, are included in your word count.
Is there any discretion on word count?
Yes. Markers may choose not to penalise work where the word count is less than 10% over the limit.
Why must I stick to the word count?
Not keeping to the word count, within the allowed deviation, will reduce the quality of your work and your overall mark. If the work is too short that will reflect a lack of applied research and depth in the analysis and, if too long, it won’t be sufficiently concise, succinct and well organised.
The general rule on word count is as follows:
The word count applies to everything in the body of the text, including quotations, Harvard system in-text citations, footnotes and subheadings. It does not include the coursework title and table of contents, executive summary or abstract, tables, images, list of references or bibliography, appendices or other supplementary material, which does not form an essential part of the text. ‘Footnotes’ encompasses additional explanatory text included at the bottom of a page to amplify specific sections of text in the main body of the work. ‘List of references or bibliography’ is the end of text systematic listing of the sources used by the text author, according to the Harvard system.
When you submit your assignment you will have access to a Similarity Report.
A similarity report identifies all sources for the words in your assignment which may be relevant from a referencing view. If you submit early enough, you will have time to you use the Similarity Report to check your referencing.
Speak to your tutor or Piers Veness, the Academic Support Officer, if you have any questions about using Similarity Reports and how to use them.
Over the term, if you need further assistance or don't understand how the process works please please speak with your tutor and/or the Assessments Team (laura.mackenzie@escapestudios.ac.uk).
Submitting early is very important, as it allows time to deal with any submission issues.
If you are having an IT problem at the time of submission please carefully check and work through the submission process as set out above.
If you still can't submit, you must inform and contact Student Services (studentservices@escapestudios.ac.uk) and Technology Support (techsupport@escapestudios.ac.uk) immediately.
