About the Artist:

 Portrait of Aiyana Monae McClinton.

Aiyana Monae McClinton graduated from the University of Oregon in June 2020 with a degree in art and product design. They are the first on their dad's side to earn a college degree. While at UofO, they were able to grow their love for weaving and textile art. McClinton won the Keena Northrop-Shaw Art Award in 2019, which awarded them with money for their weavings.

McClinton works to plant the history of Black Americans in as many spaces as possible, including art museums where Black history can impact more people than their voice can. They do this because the US school systems don't want to remember these stories. They also run a mutual aid account on Instagram, @helpthem_helpus, which has allowed them to collect and distribute thousands of dollars to Black, Brown, and disabled communities.
