How do I access systems from off campus?
Remote Connections
Most OIT computational systems are not directly accessible from off-campus. Direct ssh access to the login nodes is limited to the PSU campus IP range (i.e. doesn’t include the guest wireless.)
The preferred method is to use the campus VPN for accessing research systems from "off-campus."
Campus VPN
You can use PSU's Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access research compute systems via SSH or remote desktop protocol (RDP) and mount network file shares. To use the VPN, you must first enroll in Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Visit Enroll in Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for instructions.
Follow this link to connect remotely with the VPN.
Note: If you experience issues staying connected with the VPN (i.e. being periodically disconnected/dropped during VPN sessions), you should try the Remote SSH method below.
SSH Login Host
Users with a research shell accounts can ssh to "rc.pdx.edu" (without a VPN) and "jump" to other systems via SSH.
