The Trends Tools are asset-focused tools for documenting evidence of students as mathematical doers, knowers, and sense makers (Rigelman, 2019, 2021, & 2023).
The content portions are a synthesis of what is known about deep mathematical understandings in the various content domains. The categories define what it looks like to be a knower and sense maker of mathematics and either
reflect the typical trajectory of mathematical development for an idea/skill or
provide the menu of strategies students may employ.
The practices and processes portions attend to the habits of mind of doers of mathematics.
