Advising your staff to intentionally engage in training will lead to meeting licensing requirements, improved knowledge and skills, and advancement on the Oregon Registry Steps.
A Professional Development Plan (PDP) provides guidance to set individualized goals. The plan has two sections:
Conducting a Self-Assessment
Reflections
Using a Professional Development Statement (PDS) from ORO to reflect on current Oregon Registry Step and hours of training
Setting SMART Goals
Long-Term Goal (1-5 years)
Short-Term Goals (3-12 months)
While advising staff, encourage them to utilize their myORO account, PDS, and other resources listed within the Child Care Employer Essentials site. Your commitment to helping others with their professional development could be life-changing!
Child Care Resource and Referrals (CCR&R's) provide assistance with planning professional development as well. Find your local CCR&R on the Central Coordination CCR&R website.
Oregon Registry Certified Trainers offer independent training sessions accepted by the Oregon Registry. For more information on becoming a Certified Trainer, visit the Oregon Registry Trainer Program website.
