Oregon Registry Steps

Anyone can apply for an Oregon Registry Step—and it's free! It's highly recommended that individuals apply for a Step at the beginning of their employment in the field of early childhood and afterschool education. 

Benefits of having a Step

• Can be used for position qualifications for Child Care Licensing Division licensing, 

• Meets certain Oregon Statewide Scholarship eligibility requirements,

• Used for Spark personnel qualifications (Oregon's QRIS), and

• Contributes to statewide data that is used for policy decisions.

The Oregon Registry Steps Document outlines a sequence of twelve steps, that include three pathways: a degree pathway, a college course credit pathway, and a combination pathway. 

Step Application

A Step Application is required if applying for a new Step or applying for Step advancement.  Step Applications take approximately 45 business days to process, and once the application is complete, the awarded Step will be reflected in ORO.

In ORO, individuals can:

• Print their Oregon Registry Step Certificate

• View their Professional Development Statement (PDS)
