Part 1 - Although the borders didn't change after the War of 1812 and there was no victor declared in the Treaty of Ghent, the British were aware of the potential threat from the U.S.A. and that changed some policies and influenced the direction of Canada.
Many settlements in early Canada were built by Black settlers, many of them who served in the military to fight for Britain during the American Revolution and the War of 1812.
Many Black Settlements were in Nova Scotia. We have also learned about the community that thrived in Oro Township near Barrie, Ontario not far from the Greater Toronto Area.
