I am a third year Engineering teacher, but STEM has been a passion of mine since I became a teacher.
I am married to Ray Clement, Sales Manager at Lakeshore Picayune, with three children, Kienan, firefighter, Kielee, studying Physics at UNO, and Kaiden, a 2022 graduate of St. Stanislaus. I was a hairstylist for quite a few years before becoming a teacher, but I have always wanted to be a teacher since I was a child.
As an adult, I graduated from PRCC with an Associates Degree, and continued my education at Southern Miss, earning a Bachelors of Science in Education. All of my electives were in Mathematics, certifying me to teach Mathematics in all grade levels.
I started teaching at South Side Elementary where I was the 6th grade Math teacher for 6 years, Chair of the Math department, and served as a Curriculum Coordinator in Mathematics for the district. I also taught Foundations of Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, and Math ACT Prep at PMHS last year
During my time at South Side, I incorporated STEM education into my classes and the school. I found that I loved the engineering portion of STEM and knew that I wanted to further my education to incorporate that aspect into my certifications.
Over the summer, I was able to work on that goal. I earned certifications in IC3 and in Methods of Engineering. I am so happy to be teaching engineering because I love that it incorporates math, science, and technology into real world problem solving. I love to see the students so engaged in solving problems. I love the hands on aspects of the curriculum and the overall feeling of accomplishments as the students create solutions to problems.
I am the sponsor for TSA, Technology Student Association.
