Below is a COVID Journal/Time Capsule! As many of the FMS staff keep reminding you, we are living through history! This is a first for many if not all of us and it can be not only fun for memories but therapeutic to write down your experiences through this unusual time. You can print out the journal and fill it out to keep forever! If you are unable to print it at home, we can print copies and leave them at the school to be picked up during the scheduled pickup times. I'm sure your future kids and grandkids would love to be able to read about your experiences! I'd love to see them, if you want to share please email me to them when you're finished, but this is absolutely a personal journal for you to look back on and you do not have to share anything you aren't comfortable with! I hope you are all staying safe and well and keeping up on your school work and your mental health! Don't forget, I'm always here if you want to talk! :)

PS: Some of the words have different spelling than we use (Favourite, colour etc)! This resource came from somebody else, meaning I did not create it, and the person must be from a different country where that's how they spell it!

Remote Counseling

Hello Parents/Guardians and scholars,

I first want to say how much I miss seeing you all everyday! I know this has been challenging and unexpected but together we will get through this! Below are some very important details for you during this time of remote learning, so PLEASE read it all!

During this time the primary way to reach me will be via email and then I will be able to call or video chat you after the initial message. My contact information is at the top of this page so if you need to get ahold of me ,please email, even if it is an emergency.

Email etiquette:

1.If you are using a personal email (not your assigned school email), PLEASE, put your full name somewhere in the body or at the bottom of your message, otherwise I won't know who is emailing me!

2. Please be brief. Please do not put confidential information in an email. If you need to talk about something/someone please just let me know that you need to talk and I will call or video chat you as soon as I am able to.

3. Please explain in the email if you would like me to call or video chat and a time frame of when is best (example: 9am-11am today, example: as soon as possible, it's urgent!)

4. Please do not scare me in your email! Often times students say something is an emergency, so I immediately call you in my office, only to find out it is a schedule change, or something that could have waited!

5. Emergencies are things like: somebody is hurting themselves, somebody is hurting you, you are or are wanting to hurt somebody else! If something is urgent please use Safe To Tell. The information is at the top of this page!

6. Please know that email is my primary line of communication so I may not be able to respond immediately, but will try to do so in a timely manner!

How it will work:

When a parent/guardian or scholar reach out via email with the information above, I will follow your requested steps and either call or video chat based on what you asked for. If we are calling I will first try to call via the parent phone number and ask to speak to the student until told by the parent/guardian that it is okay to call directly to the student, if calls will be reoccurring. If we are going to video chat I will be utilizing Zoom and students or parents/guardians will need to call in to the Zoom number listed in my email response.

*If you are worried about others hearing your conversations, please give me a chance to talk to you on the phone and we can figure that out before we begin talking about anything confidential.

Above all else, please don't forget that I am here to support you in any way that I can during this time of uncertainty. Do not hesitate to reach out for any reason! I am and will always be here for you and am excited to see you all as soon as possible!
