  • Hello 8th Graders!

  • This week, we will concluding our lessons on the Civil War. Like I have said MANY times , the Civil War is the defining moment for our country and this week is going to show how the North prevailed, slavery ended, Lincoln was assassinated, the war concluded, and the USA tried to put the pieces back together.

  • I am assigning the last two lessons in the chapters, Cornell notes, and the quiz as usual, but I am also adding in a synopsis of the great war movie "Gettysburg". Gettysburg was the turning point of the war and the single bloodiest battle in USA history. More American's died in three days at Gettysburg than the total amount of American deaths in 7 years during the Vietnam War. The movie Gettysburg was made in 1993 on the exact battle location using thousands of real Civil War reenactors so it gives an outstanding depiction of what the Battle was actually like. Please read the lessons, take the quizzes, fill out the Cornell notes, and watch the video.

  • The Civil War Final will be your only assignment next week, so please start preparing for that so you can finish the year strong!

  • If you have any missing assignments, they need to be turned in by FRIDAY.

  • I am attaching my former PowerPoints that I have used in the past for additional reference material for you to review and prepare for your Civil War final next week.

  • Monday- Read Lesson 5 Emancipation and Life in Wartime- fill out Cornell notes

  • Tuesday- Take Lesson 5 Quiz

  • Wednesday- Optional Reference Day- Review the PPTs and the Gettysburg video.

  • Thursday- Read Lesson 6- The Wars End- fill out Cornell notes

  • Friday- Take Lesson 6 Quiz

  • Like always, let me know if you need anything!!!
