As instructors, we expect that you will be going over the CBL assignment/project description and learning objectives with students.
The CBL Program will provide a general CBL & GivePulse Orientation For students who plan to complete a CBL assignment/project will need to register with the CBL Program.
The orientation is meant to provide students with:
Steps they need to get started
And Resources and tools to assist them in connecting with community partners, tracking and reporting their impacts
Due to limited staffing, it is preferred that instructors choose to have students watch a pre recorded orientation and there will be drop in office hours for students who might need additional support
Instructors do have the option to schedule an in class orientation, but if schedules can’t be accommodate then the recording will be made available to their classes instead
Students should identify and contact their community partner to make arrangements for community engagement and review the CBL assignment/project parameters.
Its is important to reiterate to students that they will not be able to start community engagement activities until their Learning Agreement is acknowledged by the instructor and community partner
More details about the Community-Based Learning Agreement are covered in this section
Students will need to report their activities by adding impacts in GivePulse
The great thing about the GivePulse platform is that the community partner will be automatically notified by email to verify the student’s reported impacts.
As instructors, you will also be notified as students add impacts and those impacts are verified. You will also have the ability to verify those impacts.
