Bienvenue au cours de français de Madame Kandell!
I can't wait to meet you.
We celebrate special events as they arise. For example, in 2022 we learned French through the World Cup. We also discussed the Olympic Games that were in France in the summer of 2024!
After learning about Paris, French 1A students host a French night in the cafeteria and invite families.
Students, acting as tour guides, present their learning about monuments in and near Paris.
Students have fun replicating the monuments and bringing Paris alive!
French 1B students research a famous francophone person from any French-speaking country. They then write about that person in French from the first person perspective.
Students dress up as the person and families are invited to listen to the presentations. 1A students also get to see what level they will reach next year.
All 8th grade French students take Le Grand Concours, a national French test. Many win medals that show off how much French they have learned at JLS.
JLS French students write letters to a middle school in Chambéry, in the French Alps. This year we hope to start an exchange with our sister city in Albi.
In French class, we learn about the francophone world through books, songs, sports, biographies, Peace Corps volunteer and other guest speakers.
