The overarching goal of the Induction Program is to prepare teachers to address the academic and social needs of all students, allowing each student to meet or exceed academic content standards. Participating Teachers focus on strategies for working with different student populations and on instructional practices for differentiating instruction to meet the varied needs within the classroom. The program is designed to support teachers in making progress towards mastery on each standard of the CSTP.
The program design takes into consideration adult learning theory and the value of self-reflection as the basis for continual growth on the part of PTs. Each PT is assigned a mentor to support development of and progress in the Individualized Learning Plan, leading to the development of reflective practitioners. This process, led by the team of Mentors and aligned to each District’s evaluation timelines, is the heart of the Induction Program.
During the two-year induction process for the Participating Teacher, the PAUSD Induction Consortium will promote and support the attainment of the following objectives.
Objective One: To provide professional learning, assistance and support to each Participating Teacher.
Objective Two: To develop and implement an effective Individualized Learning Plan that reflects each teacher’s individual needs and supports their growth in addressing the needs of the range of students present in their classroom.
Objective Three: To assist each Participating Teacher in the completion of requirements needed in order to obtain a California Professional Clear Credential during the two-year program.
