Unit 1 TESTS will be the first week in October. Review materials are available HERE already. Start studying!
Our first unit is designed to introduce and review some of the more general topics of science. You will find most of this content fairly simple, and much of it you will have seen from other science classes. While simple, this content will show up throughout the year as a basis for much of what we learn and almost all of what we do in the lab!
Our first topic of the year is also one of the most significant: the scientific method! While this is typically a simple, throw-away topic for early in the year in many classes, the reality is the scientific method is the cornerstone of how all science works. We will use it extensively and meaningfully throughout the year as you design and implement experiments to explore science on your terms!
The remainder of the unit will focus on some basic scientific concepts that we will see throughout the year. These tend to be simpler ideas such as classification of matter and ways to describe different types of properties. While the ideas will not require a lot of effort, these topics make for some great opportunities to get started on our first few lab activities of the year. Time to get your hands dirty!
