Year 7 and 8 students are in one class. That class is taught by a combination of Te Pākura staff and other staff depending on each curriculum area. This class is connected to the Te Waiū Learning Commons and may join in with them to fully engage in the wider life of the College. Each learning commons consists of 4 -5 classes made up of students from both year levels. All students choose one option subject per term which is apart of their weekly timetable, options subjects include the Arts, Technology, Te Ao Māori and Science.
Years 9 and 10 are also merged into one class. In Year 9, all students take a one term program in the Arts, Te Ao Māori and Technology and have the opportunity to select another program from the options provided. In Year 10, students can select two programs from the range on offer. These programs run for two terms.
The Senior school is made up from students in Year 11 through to Year 13. Senior students merge with mainstream students across all their subjects. Learning in these Year levels is personalised.
In Year 11 and 12, Te Reo Māori, English and Maths are compulsory subjects. In Year 13, Te Reo Māori is a compulsory subject. Students in Year 11 and 12 can select three other subjects, and Year 13 can select five other subjects from the broad range of learning areas and various disciplines on offer.
They can also access secondary/tertiary partnership opportunities, trades courses, university papers and scholarship level subjects.
