Te Whānau o Te Pākura was established as a bilingual unit in 2025. The name Te Pākura derives from the Pūkeko - purple swamp hen, native to the Pāpāmoa area.
Maraetanga - essence of the marae, whanaungatanga - camaraderie and tikanga - customs, and traditions are essential to the philosophies of Te Whānau o Te Pākura. Te Pākura acts as a supportive learning environment embracing the school’s ethos and principles.
We believe it is important to uphold the kawa and tikanga of the marae. Maraengatanga - the essence of the marae, is used to guide our teaching and learning in order to provide students with authentic and meaningful experiences. Providing students with opportunities to explore contexts relevant to them will promote further achievement.
