L1 Music Technology

Notation

Demonstrate and apply introductory knowledge of the features and functions of music notation applications

The Standard

US32301 Notation.pdf

For this assessment activity, you will create and edit a short score using music notation software such as Sibelius or an online software such as Noteflight. You also need to be able to describe the features and functions of the Music Technology equipment.

In creating your score: you must include and use all of the following functions

  • title

  • composer

  • tempo

  • 2 staves

  • time signature

  • key signature

  • notes & rests

  • dynamics

In describing the functions: As you are editing your score, make a mental note about what you have to do to be able to input and edit the notes etc into the Music programme - imagine you are having to tell your friend how to do it! You will need to be able to describe these functions as a part of this assessment.

You will need to be able to answer questions about how you operate the programme to create the Music - and you can answers these as written answers, in discussion with your teacher, record yourself talking about it, a screen capture etc. Use the Checklist sheet below as your guide for this - and to ensure that you've done everything that you need to do in order to achieve this standard.
