Demonstrate and apply introductory knowledge of MIDI sequencing

The Standard

US32300 Midi.pdf

For this assessment activity, you will create and edit a short piece using music MIDI software such as Garageband, FL STudio, or an online software such as Bandlab. You also need to be able to describe the steps using the Music Technology equipment.

In creating your piece: you must include and use all of the following functions

  • Creation of 3 tracks

(loop + drawn etc)

  • Structure of musical ideas

  • Time length of at least 1 minute

  • Input AND editing of MIDI notes

  • Quantising

  • Balancing the tracks

In describing the functions: As you are creating and editing your score, make a mental note about what you have to do to be able to input and edit the notes etc into the Music programme - imagine you are having to tell your friend how to do it! You will need to be able to describe these functions as a part of this assessment.

You will need to be able to answer questions about how you operate the programme to create the Music - and you can answers these as written answers, in discussion with your teacher, record yourself talking about it, a screen capture etc. Use the Checklist sheet below as your guide for this - and to ensure that you've done everything that you need to do in order to achieve this standard.
