AS91602 - Integrate biological knowledge to develop an informed response to a Socio-scientific issue

(3 Credits)

Level Eight of the curriculum expects students to be able to participate and contribute to debates within society about scientific issues of current concern.

They must be able to use relevant information to develop a coherent understanding of contemporary socio-scientific issues that concern New Zealand and the rest of the world. They will be able to  generate possible responses at both personal and societal levels.

The Socio- Scientific Issue we will investigate is the New Zealand Vaccination Schedule which outlines the vaccinations currently available free to all New Zealanders but which is not compulsory. This is of particular relevance given the 2019 outbreak of Measles both in New Zealand (particularly South Auckland) and Samoa.

Measles
