Demonstrate understanding of adaptation of plants or animals to their way of life
Respiration is the biochemical process in which the cells of an organism obtain energy by combining oxygen and glucose, resulting in the release of carbon dioxide, water, and ATP (the currency of energy in cells). The respiratory gases Oxygen and Carbon dioxide must be efficiently exchanged to ensure that Respiration can take place at an optimum level to meet the energy requirements of an organism. This assessment will explore the different gas exchange systems used by Mammals, Fish and Insects.
Respiration
Respiration rap from Tamaki College...you could try to make up your own about the process of respiration and the requirements for efficient gas exchange.
Oxygen required for respiration in humans is carried by the red blood cells to all parts of the body to meet the energy requirements of our lives
Respiratory Gases
The respiratory gases are Oxygen and Carbon dioxide. Oxygen is a reactant needed for cellular respiration and Carbon dioxide is released as a waste product of respiration.
Diffusion
Diffusion is the movement of a particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
Diffusion happens in liquids and gases because their particles move randomly from place to place.
Breathing
Diffusion occurs in all organisms just across different surfaces, but the principals are the same...high concentration --> low concentration
