Welcome the last week of P2.
It is a time for mixed emotions as children gain an understanding that they will return to a different room in August. We have had many times looking and experiencing all of the P3 classrooms over the past weeks to give the children some insight into the learning that occurs.
Thank you to all parents who have assisted throughout the year, your support is highly apprecidated.
Reading books will not be sent home during the final week of school.

Talk for Writing: Poetry
Children will listen to and develop skills in poetry. Poems will be based on Pirates.
To be able to use rhyming words
To be able to use adjectives
To write an acrostic poem
Phonics:
To be able to use Phase 2 sound knowledge to read and write CVC words.
To be able to read phase 2 sounds and begin to read phase 3 sounds within words.
To be able to read Phase 2 Tricky Words (words that are not decodable)
To begin to read Phase 3 Tricky Words.
To begin to apply Phase 3 sounds when writing.
Handwriting:
This term we will be continue to review common letter reversals and ensuring correct direction and starting points for these letters .
We will also be focusing on letter placement when writing on a single line, finger spaces, punctuation and content.
Children will be learning how to use

The image on the left will take you to the unit letter detailing learning targets for the whole unit of Celebrations.
The Unit of Treasure Islands will be looking at trade and trade routes. How pirates used these routes to gain their treasures.
IPC Process of Learning Cycle
This week the children will engage in a Pirate School Entry Point. They will then answer a true and false statement list for their knowledge harvest.

Daily:
1. Read the home reading book. Talk about the story including the characters and setting. What was your child's favourite part of the story?
2. Practise reading the high frequency words in the back of the home communication book. Once children can read words by sight, they can practise spelling them.
3. Doodle Maths '5 A Day'
