Has your child’s teacher expressed concern that they could have a problem with certain speech or language skills? Or perhaps while talking to your child, you have noticed an occasional stutter or that certain sounds are mispronounced.
Could your child have a problem? And if so, what should you do?
It's wise to intervene quickly. An evaluation by a certified speech therapist can help find out if your child is having problems. Speech therapy is the treatment for most children with speech and/or language disorders.
If you are concerned about your child then a good starting point is to look at the progress checker on Talking Point's website. Choose the age group of your child and then answer the questions. If the checker indicates that your child has some difficulties then make an appointment to speak to one of the Additional Needs Team.
