Bristol Landing
In the late 1800s, Bristol Landing was a port of call on the Wabash River. It was located south of Palestine, Illinois. It is near, what we call, Bristol Hill, today. The river was used to ship goods like grain and cured meats. Merchandise was also shipped to Palestine this way. The Presbyterian Church in Palestine even has a bell that was shipped on the Wabash River. It arrived in 1849. Bristol Landing no longer exists today for shipping purposes, but the river is still used for entertainment purposes in Palestine today.
