PSAT

We encourage 10th and 11th grade students who are interested in attending college to take the PSAT.  The PSAT is great practice for taking the SAT in 11th and 12th grades.   PSAT scores are used to help students get an idea of how they can improve before taking the SAT in 11th and 12th grades.  Students and parents will see the PSAT scores, not colleges.

The PSAT will be offered at PCHS on Thursday, October 9, 2025.  There is a sign-up sheet in the counseling office now.  Sign up before the limited spots are gone!

SAT

The SAT is a college entrance exam.  Students who are interested in attending a four year college/university should take the SAT and/or ACT.

We encourage 11th grade students to take the SAT in the spring.  We also encourage 12th grade students to take the SAT in the fall, if they have not taken it yet or would like to take it again.

The Fall SAT is offered at Luray High School on  Saturday, October 4, 2025.  If you are registered, please plan to arrive by 7:45am and bring your test ticket and a form of ID to check-in.  This test will conclude at approximately 11:00am.  

The Spring SAT is being offered at PCHS on Saturday, March 14, 2026. If you are registered, please plan to arrive by 7:45am and bring your test ticket and a form of ID to check in. The test will conclude at approximately 11:00am.

ACT

The ACT is a college entrance exam.  Students who are interested in attending a four year college/university should take the SAT and/or ACT.

ASVAB

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a required test for those considering entering the military.  For students who are not interested in entering the military, the ASVAB can still be helpful in career exploration.  The ASVAB is given at PCHS every fall & spring
