Week beginning - Monday 9th February 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week the children have worked incredibly hard to complete their inquiry, learning about how some acts which are considered crimes, can also be considered art!
We have studied sculptures that express emotions and cultural heritage, considering context while interpreting meanings.
We have then gone on to study some of the work of anonymous, prolific street artist 'Banksy' and how he/she uses thier art as a form of protest, how he/she has achieved notoriety and has (as far as we know) never been prosecuted for his/her art/crimes.
We have considered how graffiti is punishable, what is considered art vs vandalism and how Banksy's work can make a political statement, without us even knowing who he/she is.
We have then considered poster campaigns are still used by the government today to explain, raise awareness for and enforce current laws and policy.

You have worked really hard on your reading this module and have clearly been enjoying the stories we’ve been exploring together. It’s lovely to see your enthusiasm growing alongside your confidence.

This week, you finished a book which required perseverence, as you realised that you weren't actually enjoying it. There is a lot of value in finishing a book, even if you don't enjoy it, because it still teaches you vocabulary, how stories can be finished and what kind of books you do enjoy!
6D
You have started a superb reading log and it is inspiring other people. Keep it up!
