Week beginning - Monday 9th February 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had another busy and exciting week of learning in Year 2... can you believe it is already the end of module 3!
Inquiry:
In Inquiry, we have now wrapped up our Central Idea of: “Living things have basic needs which need to be met to ensure survival.” The children finished this module by producing an encyclopaedia-style piece of writing all about different animals. They used their learning to write about what animals eat, where they live, what they look like, which animal group they belong to and how they grow, drawing on their knowledge of life cycles. The children worked incredibly hard on these pieces and showed fantastic attention to detail. We have been so impressed with the pride they have taken in their work.
Maths:
In maths, the children are continuing to work really hard on our unit of multiplication and division. This is a tricky concept, but we are so proud of the way the children have approached their learning with a positive attitude. They have shown themselves to be excellent risk-taking thinkers as they tackle new challenges and deepen their understanding. We will continue working on multiplication and division in Module 4. It would be extremely helpful if children could practise their 2, 5 and 10 times tables at home using Times Tables Rock Stars and the additional resources available on Google Classroom.
Children's Mental Health Week:
This week we have been focusing of how we can prioritise our mental health. We have had more movement breaks than usual, mindfulness opportunities throughout our lessons and we have discussed the ways that we like to look after our mental health. The children have been balanced and reflective learners. We have been focusing on the idea of everyone having their place and we have talked about a sense of belonging in addition to discussing all the places that we belong. For more information follow the link below.

(2OB) Esmae - I enjoyed learning about animals and their offspring.
(2OB) Kit H-L - I liked the experiment with soap and pepper to see what happens to germs when we wash our hands with soap and without.
Maths:
(2H) Jenson F - In maths this week we have been learning about multiplication.
(2H) Evie K - We looked equal groups and the multiplication symbol which looks like a little cross.
(2OB) George - An array is a way of making multiplication easier.
(2OB) Ananya - It doesn't matter which way you write the number sentence. 3 x 4 is the same as 4 x 3.
GPaS:
(2H) Beau - We have been revisiting nouns, verbs and adverbs and using them in sentences in our non-chronological reports.
(2H) Lenny - A noun is a person a place or a thing.
