Week beginning - Monday 8th September 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
It has been a busy week in Year 6! Firstly, well done to all those who sat the Kent Test on Thursday. It was a long day of examinations, and we know how much hard work the children have put in, including the many hours of practice papers completed at home. A big well done to them, and thank you to their families for the fantastic support they have given. In addition, well done to the children who did not take the Kent Test, who dealt well with the change in timetable, the less structured day and who gave advice and support to their Kent-Test peers.
This week has also seen the start of Bikeability—a brilliant opportunity for children to develop their cycling skills and ensure they can use the roads in our local area as safely as possible. More pupils will be taking part next week, and we wish them the very best as they work towards completing both levels.
Every year, the children are given the opportunity to run for House Captain. This year we have seen a fantastic number of entries, with many children eager to share the qualities and attributes they would bring to the role. With all the hard work now completed, the children will spend the coming days practising their presentations in preparation for the House assemblies on Monday 22nd September. We encourage them to be confident, speak clearly, and showcase just what fantastic House Captains they could be.
In maths this week, we have continued our focus on place value, learning about comparing and ordering numbers to 10,000,000 and rounding numbers up to 10,000. Through our Inquiry lessons, we have continued to investigate climates and biomes.
6C
You showed excellent research skills when learning about climates and biomes. You thought carefully about the information you wanted to find out and presented it clearly in a well-written information text. Well done – I’m very impressed!
6S
You have been an inquirer multiple times this week, asking insightful questions that show you are making links between learning, prior-knowledge and life experiences.
6B
You have made valuable contributions all week during class and paired discussions. These are helping us all to develop our understanding throughout our learning. Well done and keep this up. Your class-mates need you.
