Week beginning - Monday 8th September 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week, Year 4 continued their inquiry into health and lifestyle by diving into the world of teeth. They explored the different types—incisors, canines, premolars, and molars—and discussed why each is uniquely shaped and suited to specific functions like cutting, tearing or grinding food.
Curiosity led them to compare human teeth with those of animals, sparking questions like: Do all animals have the same teeth? and How does diet affect dental structure? Their research revealed fascinating differences between herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.
To bring science to life, students set up an investigation using eggshells to model tooth enamel. They tested how liquids like water, juice, milk and fizzy drinks affect teeth over time—making predictions, recording changes and thinking critically about dental hygiene.
It’s been a week of questioning, experimenting and connecting learning to real-life choices. Year 4 are showing true scientific thinking in action!
