Mr Moore's News Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a brilliant week at Leigh Academy Paddock Wood. Classes are now settled into the swing of things, and learning is flourishing.
I have personally seen some exceptionally high standards of presentation, high-quality work, and classes brimming with enthusiasm.
I encourage you to ask your child(ren) about their inquiry learning this week. Our International Baccalaureate Curriculum interweaves the National Curriculum to ensure that children don't just learn basic knowledge but get the opportunity to apply it to much broader contexts. We are proud that our learning knows no bounds and taps into the children's interests. We are looking forward to opening our classroom doors to you all across the coming weeks and months to allow you to learn more about our studies and engage in learning outside of school too. We want you all to feel as involved and as informed as possible. This home-school relationship is proven to reinforce positive learning habits and attitudes.
Thank you to all of the families who filled out our International Baccalaureate Survey. Your feedback is vital in our journey as an IB school. We are heading towards our re-accreditation, and your opinions help to shape what we can do to refine our learning experience.
Many of you will have seen me working with the local Police and Community Safety Officer this week outside of our gates. This is an ongoing effort to make our local roads safer places and to make the commute to school safer and less stressful. They are proactively monitoring our feeder roads with a clampdown on unsafe parking and reckless driving. I appreciate your support and vigilance with this matter.
Yours sincerely, and have a lovely weekend,

You may have been experiencing some connection issues with MCAS. Bromcom, who run MCAS had a serious server issue at the beginning of last week and this impacted their users quite dramatically both parents and the Academy. They have been working hard on rectifying the issue but you may still have some issues. Bromcom have apologised for this and are hopeful that this will not persist.

Reading Books
Children will be bringing reading books home over the next few school days. They will bring home a banded reading book that will be to their reading level and a 'Love of Reading' book which will be for you as a family to enjoy.
Banded reading books will be changed once a week while the 'Love of Reading' book can be changed as often as the children would like.
The teachers will not be writing in the record books, it will just be for parents to let us know how often the children are reading at home and how they are getting on. If you have any questions about their reading book, please write it in their reading record books.
Children are listened to read at school in a variety of ways and this is also recorded within the classroom environment (in books, in floorbooks, teachers tracking sheets etc).
If you have any questions about reading or the children's reading books, please speak to your child's class teacher.
Thank you

#WakeUpWednesday is a campaign by the National Online Safety organisation. It's designed to help parents and carers stay informed about the latest online trends and platforms that their children might be using.
Every Wednesday, a new guide or resource is released, offering simple tips and advice on how to keep children safe online. These guides cover a range of topics, from popular apps and games to general online safety issues like cyberbullying and privacy. The goal is to start a conversation between adults and children about staying safe in the digital world.
We will upload these guides/resources here every week.
