FAQs

Q: How do I use the Trail’s End app?

A: After downloading and creating your scout’s account (Unit Code: MCAFJ or Council: Cradle of Liberty, District: Constellation, Unit: Pack 284), open the menu and click Training for videos and documents. Also, check out the Trail’s End Youtube Channel.


Q: I have a question about the Trail’s End app?

A: After reviewing these FAQS, contact the Popcorn Kernel. I can help you troubleshoot. I am a member of the Trail’s End Online Community and can check with others. I can submit a support case or you can at support@trails-end.com.


Q: I used the Trail’s End app last year. Is there a new app or changes?

A: The newest Version is 4.1.1 (as of Aug 2024), and please update the app before using it.


Q: What if I have multiple scouts?

A: You will need to create an account for each with different usernames but use the same email address. Or you can create 1 shared account, but you will need to decide how to split the Amazon Gift Card Reward between your scouts. 


Q: How can I toggle between both my scouts?

A: Once the accounts are created, log into the first scout (do not use Remember Me) then find the little down arrow at the top near their name. Clicking this will open the list of names and the option to Sign in again. Sign in your next scout and repeat to see all your scouts listed. Now you can toggle between them if each want to record their own sales.


Q: How can I split or share the sales between my scouts?

A: Create accounts for each of your scouts. Alternate sales between your scouts or share each scout’s Scout Code to different groups of people. If you plan to do a neighborhood Wagon Sale with your scouts, contact the Popcorn Kernel to set up a specific Store Front for you. Store Fronts automatically splits between scouts. Remember that the Trail’s End reward is an Amazon gift card, so you can choose to use just 1 scout’s account for all sales and then split the amount of the gift card between your scouts.


Q: I created the login; how can my other parent download and use the app too?

A: Only 1 account is needed. The parent that created the account can go to settings and update the MFA to included the other parent's cell number. The other parent can now download the app. Just share the username and password with them. When the MFA pops up, they select their phone number.


Q: What are Store Fronts?

A: There will be local Store Fronts each weekend to sign up for. Shifts are typically 2hrs with 2 scouts at local businesses. All scouts should sign up for at least 1 shift throughout the fundraiser season. There are usually enough shifts for everyone to sign up for 2. If you cannot see the Store Front schedule, you might not be in Pack 284. Please see 'Why is my scout not in Pack 284?' at the end.


Q: How do I sign up for Store Fronts?

A: Login the Trails End app. Click Store Fronts to view the calendar. Select a date and the details will appear below. Click View Shifts to see the available times. Click Sign Up on the time you would like to sell. You can also see the other scout signed up for a shift if you want to sell with a friend. If you have 2 scouts with accounts and only 1 slot is open, please reach out to the Popcorn Kernel. I can assign an additional scout to a shift. 


Q: What are Wagon Sales?

A: Wagon Sales are pre-orders you can make to local friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. If you would like product to do a Wagon Sale in your neighborhood, please contact the Popcorn Kernel. The pack has ordered product for Store Fronts, and can provide some for Scouts who would like to do Wagon Sales with product. 


Q: What are Online Sales?

A: Once you create the account, your scout will have an Online Shop. Go to Manage Page to include an About Me, Favorite Product, and Photos. Then, use the Share Feature to email, text, or post your scout's Online Shop!


Q: What are the Online shipping fees?

A: The Council has approved free shipping for all sales $65 and up. Be sure to promote any other Free Shipping Days, Discounts, and Promotions! Shipping is $10.99 and certain heavier items require an additional shipping fee. You can verify final shipping costs during the checkout process.


Q: What are the credit card fees?

A: Trail’s End is waiving all credit card fees for using the app.


Q: Why can’t I use a credit card?

A: If the app prompts you to allow location, microphone, storage, you will need to allow these settings. If you go into your Settings > Apps > Trails-End, you can allow these permissions. Please search online for your specific phone instructions. Also make sure your WIFI or data connection is good.


Q: Do I need a Square Account?

A: No, all transactions go through the Trails End App. The Trails End App utilizes the Square Reader devices to process credit cards. The Square App is not needed and should not be used.


Q: Why is the square swipe not working?

A: Check the permissions described in ‘Why can’t I use a credit card?’ above. Try the swipe both ways and at a different speed. Try to take the card manually. If it took it manually, check that the square is properly connected. Please search online for your specific phone adaptor needs. Most androids have a mic jack, but iPhone uses an adaptor into the power cord slot.


Q: Why is the Bluetooth not pairing?

A: Start a sale and click checkout. It will prompt for all the 'allows' (location, microphone, storage, and you will need to allow all these settings). On the app, look for the square icon in the upper right corner of the screen and click it. After clicking the Connect a Reader button on the app, hold in the Bluetooth Reader button for several seconds until the light dots are yellow and flashing. Your phone and the reader will connect and you can click Pair to complete the process. Please search online for your specific phone instructions. Also make sure your WIFI or data connection is good.


Q: What information do I use to register?

A: Enter our Unit Code: MCAFJ or find our Unit - Council: Cradle of Liberty, District: Constellation, Unit: Pack 284 (NOT Boy Troop) See the attached photo below for that info.


Q: Why is my scout not in Pack 284?

A: If you have not made any sales, go to Settings > Change Unit. It should read; Council: Cradle of Liberty, District: Constellation, Unit: Pack 284. You may have to log out/in, uninstall/download the app, and clear your cache and stored data (please search online for your specific phone instructions). If you made sales under another unit, please email support@trails-end.com for them to shift your scout over with their sales.
