Final Calculus Project (1).mp4Costa's Inquiry Level 3
In AVID, I believe that this assignment shows level 3 thinking, as the answers aren't straight forward to get. I also worked on this presentation during AVID, so this should could for this section.
Costa's Inquiry Level 1:
How do you determine convergence?
In Calculus 2, we had to determine convergence or divergence using a series of tests coincidentally called the series tests. We had to determine if a series converged and diverged through the series test process as an assignment
Costa's Inquiry Level 2:
How can you integrate something that doesn't have a direct integration technique?
In Calculus 2, we learn that there are certain integrals that don't have a straight-forward solution to integration; however, there are ways to solve this, such as putting it in a series format. For an assignment, we had to integrate using a specific integration method, then differentiate which shows that it produced the previous function.
Costa's Inquiry Level 3
How can you prove that 1/∞ is 0?
In Calculus 2, we often faced this problem when running our limits to infinity. After researching online, I haven't been able to find a proof specifically for this infinity problem. I can only discover visual representation, but NOT a proof. This wasn't an assignment, but we faced it so much in multiple problems.
Costa's Inquiry Level 1:
What is The House on Mango Street?
In English 102, The House on Mango Street is a book written by Sandra Cisneros that shows a Hispanic woman living through different events that she encounters in Chicago. We were made to analyze the symbolism of the house and write a timed essay.
Costa's Inquiry Level 2:
How does Esperanza's experience shape the ending story of the book?
In English 102, Esperanza from The House on Mango Street goes through the harsh reality of the real world and shows the progression from an innocent child to a matured being. We were made to use College databases to find historical reasons why Esperanza's life in Chicago is like this.
Costa's Inquiry Level 3
How does the entire Mango Street represent Esperanza's personality?
In English 102, Esperanza from The House on Mango Street goes through an entire transformation through the book, and Mango Street helps tie in her personality to one centralized location which shows where she's really from, and where she came from. This prompt was my final essay that eventually showed how Esperanza is a changed individual.
Costa's Inquiry Level 1:
Who is the President?
In Government, we learn about who is the president and how this leader can affect our country, along with the other branches of our government.
Costa's Inquiry Level 2:
What are some possible ways that the President makes money?
In Government, we discover through extensive research that the president makes money off of his salary, but also through other revenues such as his buisnesses and other real estate holdings.
Costa's Inquiry Level 3
What are the roles that the President has to fulfill after his presidency?
In Government, we really haven't discussed about what the president has to do in the time coming after his presidency. However, most presidents after their presidency engage in activities such as writing memoirs, giving speeches, philanthropic work, and participating in public service.
Costa's Inquiry Level 2:
What influences people to choose a certain job offer?
In this assignment, we were to choose 5 jobs that we were interested in, and I soon realized that pay isn't the only reason to pick a job offer. Although the salary might be high, the benefits may be able to counterbalance the higher salary I may get from another job offer.
Costa's Inquiry Level 3
What can people do to project the future benefits and salaries of jobs that will follow in the future?
While in this class, I decided to look at other jobs that I haven't fully thought about, and I realize that some of the occupations that I have been researching are becoming oversaturated, causing lower salaries, lower amount of employment benefits, and even job insecurity.
