As the school year comes to a close, ENL (English as a New Language) students are taking time to reflect on all they’ve accomplished. From building vocabulary and improving reading and writing skills to developing confidence in speaking and listening, this year has been filled with growth and hard work. End-of-year activities offer students the opportunity to review key concepts, celebrate their progress, and showcase what they’ve learned. It’s a meaningful time to recognize their dedication and the strides they’ve made in their language journey.
As the school year wraps up, our ENL kindergarten students are working hard to fine-tune their language skills! They are practicing identifying digraphs, writing complete sentences, and adding adjectives to make their writing more descriptive. To celebrate their growth, students are writing about their end-of-year hopes and dreams. This meaningful activity is a collaborative effort between classroom and ENL teachers, allowing students to apply what they’ve learned in a creative and supportive environment
First grade students are exploring their five senses to write a fun and descriptive poem about their favorite food! ENL students are using sensory words to help them describe how their chosen food looks, smells, tastes, feels, and sounds. To support vocabulary development, descriptive word banks are provided, giving students the tools they need to express their ideas clearly and creatively. This activity helps build language skills while encouraging imaginative thinking and personal expression
To end the school year on a fun and engaging note, our 2nd and 3rd grade ENL students are participating in a restaurant role-play project! Students are creating their own restaurants, designing menus, and writing dialogues to practice ordering food and interacting with customers. Through this activity, they’re using reading, writing, speaking, and math skills while learning about the steps and teamwork it takes to run a restaurant. It’s a creative way to build communication skills and apply language learning in a real-world context!
