Class Description
The 6th grade design curriculum introduces students to the fundamentals of visual communication and creative problem-solving. Throughout the year, students will explore the 7 Elements of Design—line, shape, color, texture, value, space, and form—through hands-on and digital projects. Using Canva and traditional sketchbook work, students will learn how to design with purpose, build visual compositions, and express ideas clearly through images and text.
Projects will focus on advertising and graphic design, challenging students to think like designers who communicate messages to specific audiences. Students will develop an understanding of how color, typography, and layout can influence mood and meaning. By the end of the course, students will have built a foundation in creative thinking, visual planning, and design craftsmanship.
