OVPA Chess Gathering

At the start of May a group of pupils from Sandown Primary visited our school for the inaugural OVPA chess gathering.

What an enlightening and fun afternoon it was and a delight to see both group of pupils playing with respect, politeness and most importantly enjoyment!

OVPA were super excited and were extremely courteous and welcoming to the Sandown pupils. Was really warming to see.

The chess on display was full of brio, imagination and great skill!

Chess gatherings play a valuable role in the chess community by fostering connections among players, promoting skill development, and enriching the cultural and social fabric of the game.

This was really wonderful to see two schools come together and play an enriching display of chess.

In late June the same group of players will play the return leg at Sandown Primary.

Chess club takes place everyday lunch-time in Mr Newell's class.

In the final term year 4 pupils (soon to be year 5) are welcome to come along and give chess a go ahead of the next academic year.
