Any Book Book Club is a club were we read books and talk about them. We will also do super fun book related activities like read alouds, mock newbery and even author visits.
Meetings: Mondays in the library during both lunches.
If you want to join please contact Ms. Solia. Remember, we welcome everyone. You don't have to read a lot or anything like that. All the things we do are optional. We do them because we want to. ABBC is a great place to go if you want a suggestion on what to read or learn what others thought of some of the books you've read.
I follow the Bret Harte School Expectations
No Spoilers! I can find a way to talk about my book without revealing important plot points or twists.
Use kind words, and respect others' choices and opinions. a.k.a Don't Yuck my Yum!
Stay positive and respectful even if you don't like a book or opinion.
I can listen to others speak without making unnecessary or negative comments.
Everyone is included! I can make an effort to include others who may be quieter.
I have the right to pass.
This is a safe space. I can share opinions on books outside of our club, but I will protect the privacy of others.
The group agreements were created by the ABBC students during the 2020-2021 schoolyear and are discussed and updated each year as needed.
ABBC Book Of The Year
The Book of the Year is open to everyone, not just ABBC members. At the end of each month we will vote on the books we want to read next, and the books we read that month. We have grants from the Bret Harte PTSA and ACL, so we are able to buy books that we can keep or choose to donate to the library. If you want to find out more about ABBC Book of The Year Award you can go to the Book Of The Year page.
We read A Day in The Life of Marlon Bundo and talked about reasons books get challenged during Banned Books Week.
#FREADOM
For Halloween, we watched an episode of the Twilight Zone called Time Enough at Last and discussed the story, the pandemic, and why we think reading is powerful.
