School Leadership

Delivery Plan Action:

Develop effective leadership to drive improvement

What did we do?

  • Develop the capabilities of future senior managers through a series of professional development opportunities. Opportunities ranged from national development sessions through to local sessions for both promoted and non-promoted staff.
  • Leadership opportunities extended beyond our staff, as many of our children and young people benefited from opportunities to develop their leadership skills too - helping us truly grow the capabilities of our future leaders.

  • Produce policy for collaborative professional learning
  • Produce revised leadership framework in line with National Improvement Framework expectations
  • Strengthened leadership of attainment and achievement

Day 2 of our Active Schools Sports Leadership training yesterday at the new Clydebank Leisure Centre. 60 senior pupils from across our 5 high schools involved in Safeguarding & Protecting Children, Disability Inclusion and Competition Organiser courses. This follows on from last week's practical sports coaching courses. We look forward to getting these new Sports Leaders delivering lunchtime and after-school sport sessions to younger pupils when they return to school in August. Excellent partnership work between Active Schools Coordinators and PE staff.

Vale of Leven pupils at Go4SET finals.

Very well done to S2 pupils from Vale of Leven Academy who were competing in the West of Scotland final of Go4SET at the University of the West of Scotland. The only competing school with 2 teams. Not only did they perform really well through the project, but their partnership with Aggreko ensured that each pupil became an accredited Industrial Cadet.

What did we do?

  • Review of working model for Local Learning Communities to align work into two Area Learning Communities:
    • Clydebank Area Learning Community, incorporating:
      • Clydebank Local Learning Community, and
      • St. Peter the Apostle Local Learning Community
    • Dumbarton/Vale of Leven Area Learning Community, incorporating:
      • Dumbarton Local Learning Community,
      • Our Lady and St. Patrick's Local Learning Community, and
      • Vale of Leven Local Learning Community

By aligning the work of the learning communities into areas, we improved our approaches to transition, collaborative projects across regional areas, and professional development of our staff.

St Peter the Apostle Youth Philanthropy Initiative

Spotlight

Well done Charlie, Alexis, Jenna and Ben for winning £3000 for The Rainbow Development Foundation this morning at the St Peter the Apostle High School Youth Philanthropy Initiative Event. I'm delighted for them and for Bashir and Shadrac from the charity. The charity have been operating on less than £100 year and support refugees in Clydebank, often funded by Bashir and Shadrac's! This will be the making of the Charity.
