Each instructor likely lays out their courses a little different from one another. This page will walk you through how I have set mine up so you will know exactly where to find everything you will need for the semester!
Throughout both this syllabus site and Blackboard, you will find links to external sites, otherwise known as hyperlinks. You can see if text has a link because it will be underlined and also clickable. When you click on links to external sites, these will open in a new window or tab, so make sure that you have your pop-up blocker turned off. Links to other parts of the site (internal links) will open in the same window.
Blackboard is the dedicated learning management system here at SUNY Oswego. It also will be your main resource for this class. In your course site, you will find your assignments. This also is where you will submit your work and where I will post your feedback and your grades. The Blackboard site also allows me to post announcements, and when I do, copies also will be sent to your Oswego email.
In addition to our Blackboard site, you will need access to a few other resources:

The following sections describe the Blackboard course layout for this specific course. If you are not familiar with basic Blackboard functionality, you can take the SUNY Online Blackboard Student Orientation (a link to enroll is on the landing page when you first enter the course shell). You also can refer to Blackboard's Online Help for Students, which has a lot of great information on the various functions within the platform.
The course navigation pane (also called the menu) is located on the left-hand side of your screen. This shows you all of the major sections of the course and provides you with direct links to each. When selected, the "Course Home" link will always bring you right back to this same landing page.
The course is divided into 16 weekly modules, one for each week of the course. Each week's folder contains the following information:
Weekly Overview and Learning Objectives
Assigned Readings
Assignments (when applicable): Concept Activities, Weekly Checkpoints, Exams, and Research Project components
Extra Credit (when applicable)
Weekly modules will not be available all at once - they will open one at a time as soon as the deadline for the previous week's work has passed (so they will open every Monday at 12:00 a.m.).
All work, unless otherwise noted, will be submitted right in your Blackboard course site.
Assignments such as your research project components will be submitted in their respective dropboxes. When submitting documents that need to be attached, such as your paper components, go to the section that says "Attach Files" under the Assignment Submission heading. Select Browse My Computer to locate the file from where you saved it on your computer. Once you have located the file, click Submit.
Please note that the required format in this course is a Microsoft Word document with a .doc or .docx file extension. PDFs will not be accepted unless otherwise indicated as they cannot be easily annotated. Additionally, Pages files from Mac computers are not compatible with Blackboard. You will need to convert these before you can submit them.
If, at any point in the semester, you have a suggestion or concern about the course content and want to recommend a change anonymously, you may do so through the anonymous feedback survey. I have included a link in the course navigation as well. Please know that it is my goal to make this class the best experience possible, so don't be shy to tell me if something isn't working! I will be happy to make changes on the fly (though I cannot guarantee all recommended changes will be made). You can fill the survey out at any point in the term and your grade in the course will not be impacted in any way.
