As a journalist, I conduct interviews and create videos but I specialize in photography. Ever since middle school, photography has captured my heart. From the moment I first touched a camera, I knew that my place in the world was behind a camera capturing photos day-to-day. Whether it's a football game or a pep-rally, I'll be there.
Above are photos of me attending after school games using one of our Canon EOS R10 cameras!
The photos above are a group of photos featuring the Ocean Springs Blue-Grey Pride Band. The Blue-Grey Pride consists of the varsity dance team, color guard, and the band itself. Having a background in band, it makes me so happy to be able to photograph my friends while they're performing on the field or in the stands.Â
These photos were taken at this year's football playoff game and pink out game to support breast cancer awareness. I love to take photos of the OSHS Cheerleading Team because they never fail to bring a countless amount of positive energy to the field every game!
My favorite sport to photograph is basketball because the thrill and adrenaline that I get while on the sideline of this sport is like no other. My mother and father were basketball coaches in my early life and they have always had a love for basketball which has been passed on to me through the lens of my camera. These photos were taken during this year's basketball season at the Billy Hubbard Competition Gymnasium at Ocean Springs High School.
The Ocean Springs High School Theatre Department puts on an annual play that they preform and compete with across the state of Mississippi. This year's play was The Crane Wife, which is a beautiful performance that incorporates modern storytelling with traditional Japanese clothing, music, and language. This was my first year taking photos of the OSHS Theatre Dept. and I plan on returning to take more photos next year!
Another favorite sport of mine to photograph is volleyball. The Ocean Springs Lady Greyhounds Volleyball Team is a group of some of the most hardworking girls I have ever met in my life and watching them play and getting to photograph every emotion is a true honor!
Sparkle Cheerleading is a program at Ocean Springs High School that consists of the varsity cheerleading team and the students a part of the inclusion program. On Friday nights, they come together to create sparkle cheerleading, which is a wonderful experience for the students a part of the special education program to be included in the Friday night fun! I love getting photos to immortalize the joy on these students faces.
These are my favorite photos from this year's Homecoming Week! Above includes events like the homecoming parade, pep-rally, game, and dance. I can always trust that these photos will turn out good because each student at Ocean Springs High School is excited to be a part of the homecoming festivities.
These were taken at the first softball home game of the season. The Lady Greyhounds Softball team always brings a fun and entertaining presence to every one of their games. I find it fun to play around with lighting, positions, and angles since there are so many restrictions with softball.
The OSHS Hound Pound is a group of students that attend almost every sporting event to cheer on the students that are a part of athletics at Ocean Springs High School. The student section is most commonly found at the football games during the fall, where they cheer on the Greyhounds! These photos were taken during this year's football season at Hugh Pepper Stadium.
Yearbook's Friday Favorites (aka weekly photos) is a friendly competition that the yearbook staff holds every Friday! As a part of our grade in yearbook, every Thursday at 11:59 pm, we have to turn in 5 yearbook worthy photos. Then, when we walk into class on Friday afternoon, our yearbook advisor displays her favorite photos from this week's batch and leaves it up to the staff to vote on our favorite photo, which gets dubbed "Photo of the Week". Below and to the right are my photos from every time I have won Photo of the Week.
