Homework is an important routine for academic growth and to help foster independence. All homework assignments reinforce concepts we have learned throughout the week, and will not contain something your student hasn't learned. 2nd Grade homework is given on a weekly basis. Homework goes home with each student on Friday and is due back to school on the following Thursday. The homework sheet consists of a tic-tac-toe board where the students are required to complete 6 of the 9 boxes in their Homework Notebook. The 3 boxes going vertically down the center column are required boxes which each student must complete. In addition to the required boxes, students will choose 3 additional boxes to complete, for a total of 6 boxes (these boxes do not have to be in rows). If a student completes all 9 boxes, he/she will be rewarded with an "Honor Ticket." Students who complete all 6 boxes (or more) will be able to participate in our Fun Friday activity. Fun Friday takes place during the last hour on Fridays and is a surprise activity each week (art project, science experiment, free choice, etc.).
However, students who do not turn in their homework, or complete all 6 boxes will not be able to participate in Fun Friday and will complete their missing homework instead.
