About Ms. Lewis:
Welcome to second grade with Ms. Lewis! Here's a little background about me...
I was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York. After my parents tired of the cold winters, our family moved to Tucson, Arizona when I was ten years old. I attended the University of Arizona and am proud to be an "Arizona Wildcat." As much as I love the desert, I was looking for a change. In 2014, I moved to San Diego, California and I absolutely love it! In my time away from the classroom, I love to practice and teach yoga, run, hike, cook, travel, spend time at the beach, play with my dog (Bernie), and continue to explore the beauty of California!
Teaching Experience:
From a very young age, I knew I loved teaching. I even began to volunteer in my younger brother's classroom when I was in middle school. Eventually, I started my teaching career in Tucson, Arizona - in the same school district where I had attended middle school and high school. Upon moving to San Diego in 2014, I was lucky enough to find the Oceanside Unified School District to call my new teaching home. I have taught in grades K-8, but second grade has a special place in my heart! This is my 15th year teaching and my 10th year as part of the Santa Margarita Family.
Education:
I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona (U of A) and therefore I am a very big Arizona Wildcats fan! It is quite possible that your students may come home singing the "Bear Down, Arizona" school chant. I also attended Northern Arizona University (NAU) for my Master’s degree in elementary education.
In unrelated education, I attended Culinary School in Scottsdale, Arizona and I also hold a 200-hour yoga teaching certification through CorePower Yoga and enjoy teaching yoga to my students.
