This weekend we traveled to Brussels, Belgium. Immediately after getting off of the train in Brussels, we witnessed a lot of cars and an intense road rage fight. This was a little shocking after being in the Netherlands for the past week where there is little traffic noise and everyone is cycling. The city of Brussels had very beautiful architecture and it was a cool experience to be able to explore a new city. We did notice a lot less cycling throughout the city but there were a few examples of sustainable infrastructure. While walking throughout the main city center, it was nice that mostly all roads were shared paths. In addition we also saw a lot of bollards used as buffers and two way cycle tracks.Â
Throughout the weekend, we got to see the Grand Palace, the Royal Palace (even though it was under construction), an Auto Mobile Museum and the famous Peeing Boy. We also enjoyed some amazing Belgium Waffles! Overall, it was a really fun trip and it was amazing seeing Brussels.
