Marking Period 1
I chose this assignment as my glow because of the fact that I received a good grade on it. This assignment was to write a report about what's going on with Israel vs Palestine. This was just a regular current event that we received every week, except this one was counted as a quiz grade. Knowing this I of course took it more seriously and made sure it was some really good writing. By completing this assignment I learned more about what was going on in the war due to me having to do a little of my own research. This assignment shows my strengths of being able to write a really good paragraph using information given to me but also information I found on my own. The main thing I really enjoyed was the fact that I got to learn and write. When I really like the topic I do not mind having to write about it, at the same time I also enjoy writing.
This is the writing assignment that we first did in the beginning of the school year. I chose this as my growth just because of the fact that it was my first writing assignment of the school year and I know i'm capable of doing more. I did not do horrible as my final grade though. With this assignment we had to read and look at some documents and write as much as we could based off of them. This assignment is where i wrote about gender equality in Latin America. I enjoyed this assignment and think it was actually pretty good. Maybe if I was not timed or had 2 classes instead of one that grade that I know I could've received would've been done.
Marking Period 2
I chose this assignment as my glow because of the fact that I also received a good grade on it. This was the unit where we learned about trade goods. So then this is when we were told to pick 4-5 trade goods that we learned about through lectures and conduct research on them. I had to find out the prices of the product, where it originated from, and why it was important. After days of this research when they had to create a paragraph for each then make it into a final paper. Me personally I did not really enjoy this assignment because as easy as it sounds, it wasn't easy at all! I did not let that stop me though even though I felt like giving up at so many points. I pulled through and still did the best I could which led me to the grade I received.
I chose this one as my grow because of the grade received on it. It is my fault that I got this grade and is the lowest grade I've gotten in this class ever. This assignment though was based off a 34 page reading that we did and then had to write a 500 word paragraph on how we felt about it. During this time I took a couple days off because of personal reasons and forgot, then by the time I was ready to do it, it was already graded. I could have still did it but because the grade was already in, I did not really seem to bother because I had other work to do. This will change because when I get back to school i'm going to catch up but for right now this is what I have to deal with.
Marking Period 3
In this essay, i successfully argued that child labor in agriculture is one of the most dangerous and overlooked forms of exploitation. I received a 100 because I used strong evidence from trusted sources like Human Rights Watch and UNICEF to show the harmful realities children face, such as toxic pesticides, long hours, and lack of education. I also explored both sides of the issue, acknowledging that not all child labor is harmful while still emphasizing the urgent need to end abusive practices. I made my point clear by including emotional and powerful examples that helped show the seriousness of the crisis. My conclusion was especially strong because I called for real action from governments, businesses, and society..not just laws on paper. This essay shows my growth as a writer because I balanced emotional appeal with factual research to create a powerful argument.
Completing the Enlightenment Web quest helped me understand how powerful ideas can lead to real historical change. I got a 67, I see it as a chance to grow and improve. I learned that it's important to c clearly connect quotes to the philosopher's ideals and to explain how historical events prove those ideals. I also realized I need to work on organizing my writing and citing sources in proper APA format. Next time, Ill focus more on clarity, structure, and making stronger connections between ideas. This assignment showed me how Enlightenment thinkers still impact our world today.
Marking Period 4
Working on the rebelling African project about German East Africa from 1905 to 1907 was one of my priorities academic moments. I focused on the Maji-Maji rebellion and how African communities courageously resisted German colonial rule. Through this project, I gained a deeper understanding of African resistance movements and the power of unity and belief systems. I was especially proud of how I organized my research and presented the historical events currently and effectively. Receiving in 97 showed me that my hard work and attention to detail paid off. This project strengthened both my writing and critical thinking skills. It reminded me how important it is to highlight the voices and stories of people stood up against oppression.
For this assignment, we export the communist manifesto, and its impact on Latin America. I answered the questions using primary sources and modern day Examples, showing I understood key ideas like the proletariat, bourgeoisie, and the call for worker unity. Although I earned an 85, I know I could’ve done better by writing in fuller, clear sentences and giving more thoughtful analysis. Still I’m proud that I understood the big ideas and connected them to real world situations. This assignment help me see how history, politics, and economics all connect. Next time I’ll take more time to look at my aswers and push my thinking further.
