This test was a recent test based on the Bohr model which we had just learned about and a couple of other concepts. We were instructed to make a study guide and answer a series of questions in relation to the upcoming quiz to better help us understand. I answered the worksheet part of the preparation and I made a lengthy study sheet but that seemingly was not enough as I did not complete the series of questions associated with the assignment. Although this grade does show an increase in my understanding for the class it does not show where I would like to be in the class and where I know I can be. I know that if I were to complete everything to the full extent and if I was to answer a plethora of questions then I was more likely to succeed. If I put myself in the right path I will be able to achieve a higher grade than what I did.
The objective of this assignment was to find out what the definition of a spectrometer was and for us to eventually build our own spectrometer/ spectroscope using products that were given to us in class to take home. After much research the definition and the use of the spectrometer was understood, I then cut out the printout given to us in class and I pieced together the cut-out paper. I then used my diffracting gradient and incorporated it into my project, by the end I was able to guide my spectroscope at a light and was able to see the colors it gave off. I love this assignment because it allowed me to use my creative juices to explain and show how I understood the material.
The objective of this assignment was to figure out periodic trends in the periodic table and how metals react with each other. and this assignment I was tasked to watch videos in regards to those things, make a research argument, make a model of the things I observed through my research and studying, learn more about elements and how they're reactivity can be predicted through a periodic table as well as ionization energy. This was a four-page worksheet packet that was done over the course of 3 days on which I got a 90 on. Through my research I was able to discover what electronegativity was and how its bond is used on other atoms. To continue getting grades like this on major assignments I will turn assignments in on time and write in full sentences to help me fully comprehend and understand what I'm reading and writing about .
This assignment I didn't do too well on because I didn't take my time and I procrastinated with the assignment. The objective was to figure out size trends in certain elements and the amount of shielding that they have. I worked with atomic radius of certain elements like hydrogen and carbon and then had to graph around 20 elements with their atomic radius size and atomic number. I focused on ionization energy and atomic numbers to answer questions 6 through 14 on the back of the packet. I feel as though if I was to commit more time to this assignment that I would have been able to get a better grade hair later but unfortunately that wasn't the case. In the future I will pay more attention in class and study up on things that are currently being reviewed in hopes that my grade for further assignments will be better.
The objective of this argument was to select an element and to do research on it, then to make a model. We were to up-cycle the model meaning we would use things we already had at home or we would use things that would usually be put in the garbage or recyclables. I used the colors yellow, green and blue to show the different elements in the molecule Nicotine, which is the element I chose. I believe that this is my glow because it showcases my talents when it comes to making things by hand. I used model magic which I already had and toothpicks. I also added a little description on the side such as melting points, boiling points, and it's actually name. We were also required to make a slide about our element which I customized to my liking and gave out very useful information on.
This would be considered my grow because I wasn't able to show my knowledge on the subject due to my lack of self studying. It is possible that if I had studied harder that I would have got more than a 70 on this assignment. The goal was to go over material that we had done over the period of a couple of weeks and to apply that knowlede to the test. We were given ample time to do so and I did not apply myself like I should have. During this period when I was staying in chemistry for lunch I should have used that opportunity to work on what was needed for the big upcoming test that accounted for a large chunk of my grade. Next time I will apply myself more, in hopes that I will get something over an 80.
